A troubling Trend in Young men
Over the past year I’ve received some messages from young men who were struggling with sexual dysfunction, and as alarming as it is, I never realized the full scope until I stumbled upon a statistic earlier that sent a chill down my spine. It was from a 17-year study at a male health clinic, conducted from 2005 to 2022. The proportion of men aged 18-29 seeking help for Erectile Dysfunction skyrocketed from 5% to 50% over this time frame. This surge now places younger patients aged 18-29 almost on par with those aged 30-40 in ED diagnoses ¹.
Low Testosterone in young men
Young men at 20 years of age are facing an average testosterone level of just 481.5 ng/dl ², which is less than the average testosterone levels of 45 - 71 year-old men back in the 1980s (501 ng/dl ³).
You see, having a higher testosterone helps erections and sexual desire. It directly stimulates NOS from the PVN down to the penis ⁴ .
And testosterone increases dopamine which also does the same thing in the context of sexual desire and boosting erections strength ⁵.
So having optimal testosterone and dopamine levels is important in addressing ED.
These 2 hormones also have antidepressant effects which will help combat the increasing rates of depression and anxiety ⁴,.
And most men with low testosterone also have depression, so it works both ways.
Some men turn to antidepressant medications, most of which are bad for erections ⁵ .
SSRI’s, the most common antidepressants, are associated with apathy ⁷, lowered testosterone levels ⁸ ⁹, lowered libido ¹⁰ and reduced bone strength ¹¹.
Young men are being hit from every angle today.
Environmental toxins - lower testosterone
Nutritional inadequacies -lower testosterone and dopamine
Chronic stress -disrupts testosterone and dopamine
Misdirection - results in ineffective treatment
And social media and porn addictions can also disrupt dopamine and dopamine receptor sensitization.¹² ¹³
All of these factors, whether isolated or combined, can contribute to having a less-than-optimally hard erection and reduced sexual desire. And while testosterone and dopamine are crucial for driving erection strength, desire, and sexual performance, there is still a matter of endothelial health.
Blood Flow.
You see, just like there are certain foods which can increase testosterone and dopamine, and foods that can lower these hormones…
There are also foods that can improve blood flow and foods that can reduce blood flow.
So How do we solve Erectile Dysfunction?
We need a science-backed holistic solution. And that's what we provide in our testosterone and dopamine maximization courses and nutrition guide.
